Undercover Campers was organically started in 2015 by a young carpenter from Jervis Bay by the name of Tyson Moore. In 2014 Tyson bought a 1970 Bedford van that he converted to travel and work around the country with his his partner. This Bedford started the camper van journey for Tyson and sparked his passion in camper van conversions design. This is the same van  in the logo!

After selling the original van he spent many years working on vans for clients in Newcastle and Jervis bay and continued with personal van and truck projects. Throughout the years living and working on the road has taught him the invaluable lessons of utilising small spaces.

The van that started it all

Tyson originally became a qualified carpenter and in 2018 acquired a Bachelor of Industrial design at the University of Newcastle. The motivation of completing the Design Degree was so that he could develop The Van Box to a professional level. The concept was to have a smooth sliding lounge to bed system that could be used by anyone. This is a design that is seen in most Undercover Campers conversions and allows the van to easily be converted from bedroom to lounge room in just seconds. The Van Box can be fitted into any panel van and can easily be removed or transferred.

Tyson has assembled a team of competent carpenters and trades that allow him to design and construct campers at the highest quality. He aims to provide affordable products with DIY options available that allow people to build their own van boxes by following engineering drawing and video instructions.

Tyson also takes on design and construction jobs focusing on space saving furniture, carpentry and joinery. These projects are run through his company  Undercover Creative.
